A Konkani cultural organization in Mangalore(Karnataka) has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for holding a 40-hour-long non-stop musical performance by a group of singers.

Maand Sobhaann on 27th January broke the previous record of a Brazilian troupe, 'Communidade Evengelina Luterana Sao Paulo', which had made a 36-hour performance in July 2004, official sources of Maand Sobhann said.

The Adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, Keith Pullin, declared that the organisation has broken the previous record.

He also handed over the 'Guinness Certificate' to the organisation, they said.

Over 1,700 singers from different parts of the country and abroad rendered over 600 Konkani songs for 40 hours continuously, sources said.
